I have thought about trying to learn to scuba dive my entire existence. And having a holiday very quickly coming in Cairns Australia I supposed I had better get to it.
I simply visited a couple of local scuba shops and they made things all seem extremely confusing and dire as well as being not cheap. So a little unhappy I googled for “Cairns Scuba Diving” . And what a good thought that was. I got provided practically Hundreds of alternatives regarding Cairns dive training centres and also local travel specialists only too glad to be able to help me learn how to scuba dive.
Soon after sending out numerous emails with many different questions I was relieved to find out that the idea had not been as terrifying, confusing or very expensive as I had recently discovered. Essentially around Cairns you can do a scuba dive course in four, five or maybe six days. Four days will be the minimum for getting ones PADI accreditation. A PADI accreditation is the worlds largest and most acknowledged. The five and six day training offer you more scuba dives and you get to do a liveaboard on the Cairns Great Barrier Reef.
And after some thought I decided to purchase a 5 day liveaboard dive course. Fistly I had to obtain a dive medical checkup done. This need not stress anyone who is reasonably healthy and fit. If you have no serious ailments or breathing problems you should be OK. The particular largest trouble is actually Asthma I personally beleive.
The first 2 days are usually spent in the swimming pool and Schoolroom. This is when you discover the basics of diving and a few very simple skills. The actual hardest component regarding this was being forced to tread water for 20 minutes. And somewhat unfairly the chubbiest people float a lot better than the actual muscled people. Those refreshments after work everyday eventually have helped me.
On day three you actually depart to the great barrier reef. You are transferred to the charter boat at the reef by a fast boat packed with day guests, however when you first get there they take you into the water. You begin the training dives right away. The actual first four dives are an element of your course, in which you be shown a few extra skills. Then you will be able to do five additional dives with zero lessons integrated. You’re now a qualified scuba diver. Not to mention I got a chance to undertake it at the Great Barrier Reef, definitely not in some dark murky urban center waters.
